Battery issues on update 17.4.1

I have a iPhone 14 Pro Max and after the update my phone is extremely hot to the touch when using YouTube or social media apps. Battery life is horrible I dropped from 100% to 40% in two hours when most of the time I go all day with casual use and rarely hit 40%. Worrisome that this is also going to cause damage too battery and components in the long run even if they do address the issue. Anyone know of exactly what caused this main battery issue and can it be turned off untill they fix the issue with a future update.
