Can't authorize or deauthorize my apple music account

I tried to buy a song on Apple Music and it wouldn't download because my mac "hasn't been authorized". In Apple Music/Account/Authorizations/Authorize this computer I get a notice that I already have 5 computers authorized. But under Apple Music/Account Information/Computer Authorizations it says "one machine is authorized to play content with this account". There is no button to "Deauthorize all". Right now, I'm stuck. I can't download and I can't change any authorization status info.

Appreciate any help. --Dave

Hey Dave,

I just called Apple support for the same issue. I bought an M3 Air and the "Deauthorize All" button wasn't available through AppleTV or Apple Music. Instead, the customer support rep guided me through the system settings.

  1. Open system settings
  2. Click your name in the top left corner
  3. Click "Media and Purchases"
  4. Under "Account" click "Manage"
  5. Here, you should be able to "Deauthorize All" correctly.

This worked for me, hopefully it helps you too.

Hi, I have the same issue and I hoped your advice could have helped me. I managed to deauthorise my iPad and both TVs (although they are devices, not computers) and just 3 devices on my list but still I can't authorise my new MacBook Air. I did what you have written and I am not to allowed to deauthorise for another year. Do you think I should call apple support?

Thanks much, NewWaterford, this worked (on the third try). I've successfully de-authorized and now re-authorized my Macbook.

However, I still have the same original problem. I had hoped this would allow me to download music I'd purchased at the Apple Music store, but not so. I get "There was a problem downloading Sandstorm (Radio Edit) / Sandstorm / Darude. An unknown error occurred." Does anyone know what the problem might be and how to fix it?

Thanks. --Dave
