iMovie events not showing in iMovie Library

My understanding is the iMovie Library is supposed to show all iMovie Events (media) ... but it's not. It shows most of them, but there are a few folders in "Events" that do not appear in iMovie Library. The content of those Event folders is exactly the same sort of thing (e.g. videos, with the same formatting) as in Event folders that do show up in the Library. I have tried deleting Preferences, but that did not fix the issue.

I think I can get to the media content (to use it in a Project) by dragging it, but in the past I was told it was better to use media from the Library (i.e., properly imported) because there could be issues with media that was simply dragged in.

So, how to I get the Event folders to show up in the Library?

Thanks!

If you do a control-click on the iMovie icon in the Movies folder, and then select Show Package Contents from the drop down menu, you should see a complete list of all events and project folders contained in the library. Is that not happening?

Do not move, alter, or delete anything in the Show Package Contents folder, or you risk corrupting your library.

It is not happening. In other words, the same iMovie Event folders that fail to appear in the Library also fail to appear when I select the Show Package Contents. Very puzzling.

More info: At least one of the "ghost" folders did appear in the Library when I started working on a project. I am not sure why, but I later noticed it was no longer listed in the Library. That is when I discovered that folder (and a few others) that showed in iMovie Events no longer appeared in the Library. Also, I have iMovie Events on both the iMac and an external drive: the same folder does not appear in the Library for either disk.

It seems there might be something about the "ghost" folder(s) that is causing it(them) to not appear, but I can't figure out what that might be and, again, the files in that folder(s) have the same formatting as content in other folders that do appear in the Library.

Yes, it is puzzling.

Doublecheck that you are looking in the correct library -- i.e, the

library in which the event was created.

Is the media that the missing events contained located in

some other event?

You might benefit from talking with the techs at

Apple Support.  They have the capability

of remotely accessing your computer, that we can't do here.

I will post a solution if I get one. So far the advisor to whom I spoke only provided a workaround, which is to create a new folder of the same name as the “missing” Event in the Library and drag the contents of the Event folder into it.

That does not solve why this problem occurred or provide a system fix, but it did make the contents of the Event available via the Library.

I will try again with a different advisor.
