pause the app update process and still be able to access the app

I wanted to update the iMovie, but when I read that description about that, it will only support the features and tips like M1 max and M1, ultra and above. I decided to pause the update process because it's about 3.22 GB. But now I am unable to access the app. I want to ask that should I update the app and if midway, I decided to not to update the app then how should I cancel the update process and still be able to access the app?
