Bug Exporting PDF from Keynote with Transparency / Gradient

When exporting to PDF from Keynote, gradients and transparencies are not rendered correctly. They become flat and opaque.

I know you can use the "print" command as a workaround (Create a new paper size of a "slide", select it as the paper layout, change the orientation to horizontal, click the PDF button and save as PDF).... but that's not obvious for most users, it's a workflow killer, and it's clearly a workaround for a bug that needs fixing.

I have submitted a bug report through Apple Feedback... but this issue is well over a year old now and there's no sign of it being fixed... so adding my voice in here incase it has impact so others can chime in as well.

My system (but seen on many other systems at my company):

  • 14" MBP, M1 Max: 64GB RAM, 2TB HD
  • MacOS: 14.3.1 (23D60)
  • Keynote: 13.2 (7038.0.87)
