Can I scan a QR code present on my own iPhone?

So I see many YouTube heads showing ways you can scan QR codes that are on your own device. Apple says Not true. Other “intelligent “ tech savvy ppls say it is possible .. smh,… been trying for many months now but nope! I learnt how to make my phn nmb into a QR code - I suppose this is so I do not need to send my personal cell nmb to ppl but again, how does the recipient scan it if the only have 1! Delete themself

QR Codes are meant to be scanned. QR Codes, as you have discovered, cannot be scanned by the same device that the code resides on.

If you have a QR Code on your iPhone that you would like to share the information, then you would display it on your screen and have another person scan it with their iPhone. If you send the QR code by email or a message, then the other person will not be able to scan it UNLESS the other person displays the code on another device and then scans it with their iPhone.

Jordenn ~ Yes, you can 'scan' a QR code present on your own iPhone. It is enabled by Apple's Live Text feature in iOS 15 and later. The sequence of images below shows Live Text in the Photos app 'scanning' a QR code containing a phone number. Here are the steps:

  1. In Photos app, browse to an image of a QR code.
  2. A grey Live Text icon should automatically appear in the lower right corner.
  3. Tap it to turn on Live Text – the icon will turn blue.
  4. Tap the QR code.
  5. Options will appear for using the phone number embedded in the QR code.

Respkt! A lot of YouTube vids say this and that about how to do so on this 15 promax like send the qr to your own email or a contact in your contact list bla bla bla. I believe what you said. I’ve tried for a month now lol. Only the characters can be extracted from the QR code …sometimes I also read about using google lens to scan a QR code on your own device. I thought that sounded possible but I suppose not. Ty
