how can I update goggle chrome on my mac pro?

google requires the macOS to be catalina 10.15
Download & install Google Chrome - Computer - Google Chrome Help
if your mac does not support that then you can check if firefox and or ms edge or brave or opera support the macOS version you run for the newest version

Thanks, I have tried several times to update my software/OS from Mac OS Sierra 10.12.6 to High Sierra 10.13.6 combo, but kept getting a message to say that there were installation problems. I've since found out that I need to download and run the full 'High Sierra installer app' to do this. I will try this out and see what happens. Perhaps if this is possible I may be able to download a later version of Chrome, or update my existing one.
Do not expect web browser compatibility to change just by upgrading from Sierra to High Sierra. The two macOS versions are in the same group so to speak. With Firefox as an example (see above), you could extend support until September 2024 (but not more).
thank you for your advice. I'm kind of use to chrome and I am still able to use it on my old mac. Its presently efficient enough for my searches and needs. I have different operating systems on my few devices but generally use Chrome as my main browser on them all. Unfortunately I am not too technically knowledgeable, so will make do for now.
