How to activate iCloud password and keychain on my PC?

iCloud Password and Keychain won't activate. I go through the sign in prosses and it returns to the iCloud page that I started from asking to approve again and again and again. I'm using Windows 11.

I had the same thing happen to me and I ended up contacting Apple Support. The problem that was causing the "Signing in..." window to close and nothing change was having VPN turned on on both my Windows PC and my iPad. As soon as I turned VPN off on both of them, the Apple ID Verification Code popped back up and this time when I entered the 6-digit code, it worked! With support's help I found out that VPN was causing my problems. Hope this helps.

I have a same problem since the iCloud Windows 11 software update. I even tried to sign out and back into iCloud with my phone and PC, then back in. The other week I also started having issues with the Phone Link receiving, but not sending texts. I'm unsure if there is a security connection there, but something I hope they check out rather fast.

I have the same problem and some information:

  • I never had an iPhone or an Apple product before so I never had iCloud+ or any installed previously in my PC.
  • This PC is new and never had a previous Windows version installed before.
  • My Apple ID is old because my phone provider give me for free Apple Music. I had the app installed in my old Android Phone, Now I only use it in my Tesla car.


  • I restarted to factory my phone but nothing resolve the issue.
  • I deleted everything in my account and in my iCloud. It doesn't solve the issue.


  • So I don't have previous sessions in iCloud. I subscribe to iCloud when I bought my phone.
  • I need to sync my passwords because I have hundreds of them impossible for remember. So now I can't use the keychain and I can use Google Passwords only.


Apple costumer help center didn't give me a solution. They promise a call back with a solution. Never more.

I have an VPN but i don't use in the PC, only with a few smart TVs to watch Netflix and Amazon of another country. I tried using the VPN, my fiber provider (Virgin Media), and using my mobile providers (EE and O2) and nothing resolve the problem.

I deleted iCloud and reinstalled it, I sing off from all the devices, etc


After contact with Apple Support they said me that they'll call back with a solution. Never more. I tried to contact using the report and the answer is that ingeneers are studying it. For months!!!


Terrible issue and terrible support from Apple. Sometimes I asked why I changed from Android.

Same problem here. My old trusted macbook broke down after 10+ years. I managed all my passwords in the keychain asuming they would be centrally stored in the ICloud only now to find out I cannot access them anymore.


I installed the ICloud for Windows App. On 2 PC's. I removed my old mac-book-pro from the ICloud. There's only one device there. I installed the plugins according to the description.


When I "approve" the ICloud app (SMS code) simply minimizes. Opening up the app again still shows the "approve" option (nothing happened). I can't imagine that I've got to buy a new mac just to get to my passwords?


Can somebody please help me?
