Mac 10.15.7 with Photos 5.0 I don't get the descriptions to transfer even in the IPTC section of information but the creation date is there. How can I get the descriptions to go with the pic?

Thanks, I did the export successfully using TIFF files and the metadata includes the correct date, key words and descriptions. Don't know why it was so confusing.
It has been a while since I used Catalina. But AFAIR in Big Sur there was a Photos bug where some metadata was exported only when saving as .tif (or as originals with .xmp sidecar).
Just checking-- Are you using File>Export>Export nn Photos? And are you checking the "Info" buttons?
I'm not sure if this is what the dialog looked like in Catalina...
So it seems both Catalina and Big Sur Photos.app does not export Title, Keyword, and Caption to JPEG.
