There’s no such option!

this is crazy. Have looked around everywhere. No solution! My Apple Maps data is at 7.9 GB!

I suspect apple wants access to our location data, and they do that via their maps app. That’s why nobody can delete it, and why its data keeps growing even after the app has been “uninstalled” and not used. They don’t care. No employee will ever admit it, either. So yes, this is a waste of time. My next phone will not be an apple phone.

If Lawrence's solution is not working, the other solution would be to tap "Reinstall App" (in your screenshot) to get the app installed again on your device. Then, on the Home Screen, long-press Maps, tap "Remove App" and then ""Delete App."

This will delete the app and its associated data. Then you coud choose to reinstall a "fresh" version of Maps by downloading it from the App Store: App Store - Maps.

Hello

I’ve come across this thread as I have nearly 9gb of data taken up by Maps Documents and Data.

I read Lawrence suggestion but I don’t seem to have the optimise storage solution in my Map settings!!!

I’ve managed to update my iPhone to 17.7 yesterday but still nothing showing.

Please help!!!

Thank you.

Has anyone else had this problem please and know how I can find the optimise

Well, if they cared, they would read these comments posted onto their own website. Thank you for proving my point.

And, if it were important to you, you'd leave the feedback where Apple would be sure to read it rather than here, buried in a sea of posts that are not feedback. In the time it took you to reply to me, you could have given them that feedback. So, I guess it's not that important.

You just cannot let it go, can you? You have to one-up me and always be right.

I find it highly amusing that you keep coming back to complain to me when I can do nothing, but you won't take the time to actually tell Apple you have a problem. I suspect that's because I give you the attention you want whereas you wouldn't get any direct response from Apple.

Same. Seems that so many people are having this issue and have received 0 feedback. Crazy to me that there is no explanation or solution for this mysterious build up in Doc&Data. Just seems like a convenient glitch for them to sell new phones with higher storage. Apple is wack and hasn’t come up with anything that ground breaking in years, they have ppl by the throat with iMessage video sending capabilities and that’s it (oh and sketchy storage tactics like this)

That means you haven’t read ANY of the posts in the 3 pages of this thread. You might give that a try.

Been there. The only thing that worked for me is backing up the phone, erasing it and then restoring it from the backup. It also helps to be on the latest iOS version. After that the problem starts again (even if you do not even have Apple Maps app on your phone), but it doesn't pick up momentum if you do not have Apple Maps on your phone. Seems to be best not to use Apple Maps.

This is a user-to-user forum; Apple doesn’t respond here. But there are 4 pages of replies in this thread, many of which explain how other users have resolved it, so I suggest reading the other messages in the thread you just added to.
