How to remove "GLtron-072-beta-8" from iMac's desktop?

Anyone know how to remove " GLtron-072-beta-8 " from my desktop? Restart doesn't work. Can't delete it to trash. There is a notification from Apple that it will damage my computer.

I was trying to download info from the SEDI website (it's a trusked site ... supposedly) when the 'GLtron notice' appeared on my desktop saying 'GLtron-072-beta-8” will damage your computer. You should move it to the Trash'. I cannot remove it.

It sounds like you got it. You still do not need any antivirus software and there is none that would have offered any additional protection. If you want to confirm there is no other files that may have been installed on your system, you can post the 3 screenshots of the file locations noted in this support article:

Finally, after 2 restarts and 2 shut downs, it allowed me to move/dlete the desktop icon to trash and then delete it. Tough getting rid of it. Any thoughts? A different comment: Anybody use a virus protection on their Mac? In 40 years I've use Apple, I never got a virus and never used an anti-virus. Probably jinx myself now. Got to find a black cat and spit at it 3 times. Ha-ha.
