Touch ID stopped working

After 7 months, Touch ID stopped working for no apparent reason on iMac with M1 chip, Magic Keyboard, macOS Ventura 13.6.

Error message: "Failed - unable to complete Touch ID enrollment."

Any thoughts?

With the Touch ID Keyboard switched ON ( Slider button on front edge of keyboard )

Cable the the Keyboard using the Lightning cable from Apple to the computer

Can you register an Finger Print ?

If not, switch OFF the keyboard and pause

Never the above and try again

Does it work now ?

If not - the keyboard may have become defective

Then have a few suggestions ;

Start now and open an Apple Support Ticket as they are PAID  Apple Employees to deal will these types of issues .

Have the keyboard evaluated by the Professionals who have the Special Hardware Software and Expertise to diagnose the issue and offer possible solutions

Make an Appointment at the Apple Genius Bar

call 1 800 MyApple and have them evaluate the keyboard

 Contact Apple for support and service
