I can't find the SD option for movies on Apple TV

Ever since Apple/iTunes informed me that going forward, i must purchase all tv shows/series/movies via Apple TV, i have been unable to find the SD option (AKA around 2/3rds of the price). Are we forced to purchase the more expensive HD version anytime we want to make one of these purchases going forward? Or is there something I’m not seeing and/or a setting i need to alter?

& yes, everything is fully up to date.

Same here still by March 2024. SD isn't an option. More than the difference in price, I wanted the difference in smaller download size. I've decided just to make my purchases elsewhere. Apple's strong suit was always that it was so simple and intuitive, and it's anything but that under the current regime. I'm just not going to play this game. It's often cheaper to order a physical DVD through the mail anyway.

SD option

See the app Settings/Preferences. On many devices, there would be a setting for this.

Change the default video format in the Apple TV app (on third party devices) - Apple Support

Apple TV app: Settings﹥Limit purchases and rentals to SD﹥Off|On

(AKA around 2/3rds of the price)

That hasn’t been the case for many titles for a while now. I’ve seen many titles with the same price for HD as for SD.

Anyway, the supplying studios set the prices as they see fit.
