iPhone 15 Pro Max cannot send email

Each time I attempt to send email, get an erro message that mine can’t be sent. Have uninstalled email account, reinstalled, etc. still can’t send email. Can receive, but not send. Use local ISP for service, they are not Apple inclined.

Adding an email account actually adds 2 separate email servers, one for incoming and a different one for outgoing. It sounds like the outgoing (SMTP) server is not set up correctly. There are 2 ways to fix it:


  1. Go to Settings/Mail/Accounts, tap on the account, then Outgoing mail server, and enter the correct account name and password.
  2. The easier way, go to Settings/Mail/Accounts, tap on the account, the delete it. Restart your phone, then go to the same setting and add it back, being careful to have a username and password for both the incoming and outgoing server (even though it says “optional”).
