My Apple Watch Battery Is Draining Quickly

Just got my first Apple Watch this weekend. It is a SE (Gen2) 44mm. I charged it overnight and when I took it off the charger, it showed 96% (not the 100% that my wife's new watch showed). I have not had the watch on all day, but just sitting on my desk. In just over 5 hours, it is down to 86% already. Should it be draining that fast when it is not being used?

Draining 10% in 5 hours doesn't sound too bad. However, I would be concerned why it does not charge to 100% overnight unless it has something to do with the optimized charging feature. “Battery life” is the amount of time your device runs before it needs to be recharged. “Battery lifespan” is the amount of time your battery lasts until it needs to be replaced. Maximize both and you’ll get the most out of your Apple devices, no matter which ones you own. See the "Tips for Apple Watch" section in:

FWIW, in some cases, unpairing the watch, completely erasing it, then pairing and restoring the backup will resolve the battery draining issue after an update. (Simply unpairing and pairing again may not work.)

Also, some people have found that simply waiting a few days after an update resolves the battery draining problem.
