And I've tried multiple suggestions by clicking 'Snap to Grid', sorting by whatever, and going into 'Show View Options' as well. It only gets fixed momentarily and the problem comes back.
It's quite annoying to be on the Macbook Pro, when it does this all the time. And it's been several updates since it first started. And the issue hasn't been resolved yet.

slightly changing the grid spacing does seem to sort it for awhile...
Control click on the Desktop — sort by> None and any other appropriate options in an effort to resolve the issue.

You would hope a point up date to follow the current macOS would address the issue...
The current stable release of Sonoma including bug fixes, security updates is macOS 14.1.2
