Solution to Update iTunes for Windows without Microsoft Store

Hello,

I was recently having trouble with trying to update my iTunes on my Windows without going through the Microsoft Store.

How I found the solution to my problem:

  1. Go to the Start menu on Windows or if you have the Search bar on your Taskbar use that.
  2. Type in "Apple Software Update".
  3. The app should open and allow you to update your iTunes to the latest version without needing to go through the Microsoft store.

The Apple Software Update app may not show up when you just look in All Apps in the Itunes folder, so you must type the name of the app to find it.

Hope this helps some out there to solve their problem. :)

Ah, that's interesting. I thought that internal link avoided going to the Microsoft Store promoting page.

The other method I know is to use one of these versionless links for the current builds of iTunes for Windows for 64-bit and 32-bit respectively:

I found that doesn't work - I had seen your previous post about it and tried that but had no luck with it constantly trying to get me to go through the Microsoft store. When it says there is an update available and you click to update it opens a web browser page and that page when you click on the update takes you to the Microsoft store.

So just posting another possible solution for people to try if other methods don't work for them.

I downloaded the Microsoft 64-bit through the link you just shared yesterday actually but because they are not the most update to date itunes once you've downloaded it and go to open itunes you get the same issue because it will say the version you're using is out of date.

It actually would not allow my to use itunes until I updated it either!

So updating through the "Apple Software Update" was the only way I managed to get it to update bypassing the Microsoft store to get the most up to date itunes and be able to use it.
