portrait mode on display

This cannot _believe_ that Apple would not have the iPhone send portrait mode to an external display. I would like the display screen to be the same orientation as my phone. There is no gyroscope in this monitor but I also do not understand why monitors don’t allow you to change the orientation on the monitor.

These pictures illustrate my problem.

And this is what I’m seeking:

Why won’t the monitor turn the same direction as my iPhone?

Is there an external app I can download to change the video output on this phone?

Or ANY fix? This is really unbelievable to me.

How greedy of Apple to do this. I’m assuming it’s so you can’t use external, non-Apple screens and your only option is their iPad. Now I guess I’ll have to get the Samsung tablet that’s 14 or so inches so I can see my sheet music at paper size.
