If you paid via credit card, contact the card’s issuer to “dispute” the transaction

If you were using AppleCash, there is no “purchase protection”

If you used a debit card, there likely are some protections afforded.

Contact the debit card’s issuer for details and dispute procedures.

FWIW, Apple is not involved in the execution of ApplePay transactions. It’s all handled between the card issuers and the payments processing infrastructure.

(Much like Apple is not involved when you place or receive a phone call)
