Adaptor for IPAD 10th generation

Currently I have an Mac book air but thinking of purchasing a new IPAD.

I still use and need a thumbdrive for attachments between my laptop and my work computer (which is old).

I want to purchase a 10th generation IPAD, and I know there is not a port for the thumb drive...I need to purchase an Apple adapter....does the port in the external adapter (for the IPAD) allow me to use a standard thumb drive? thanks

While it isn't exactly standard, there are OTG thumb drives that support all Apple port configurations with iPads. Many of these drives are available in places like Staples. Also since 2016 all Macbooks and iPad 10th generation use the same USB-C port. It is the 9th and earlier generation iPads that use lightning connectors (not to be confused with thunderbolt which is a totally different technology that is coupled with USB-C).

A drive like Amazon's's supports all three USB 3.0, C and Lightning.
