Recently discovered that pip wasnt working while playing a youtube video via Safari. The least that it could be considered to work is half a second’s worth of it appearing on top corner of screen. Mostly though it just doesnt work.

Yep, when I watch youtube in PIP and open safari, the video stops after maybe a second. If it hit play, it plays for a second and stops again. I am writing this in Chrome now and the youtube video plays along without any problem.

Same but i’m on an ipad and like it used to work but it randomly stopped working, I dont know why. It always worked when I tried multitasking.
Is your pip for you tube working as yet I am on ios17.3.1
I have an iPhone SE, and I already have my PiP on, but it’s not working on Safari. It’s really frustrating! It works on YouTube, but not on Safari.
I presume when you start a Video in Safari using YouTube, safari automatically directs you to the App, in this case, YouTube App.
If your video player app (YouTube) doesn’t support PiP, then you may have to wait for the developer to update the app compatible with PiP.
Alternatively, you may go to youtube.com in Safari, play a video, and make it full-screen (You may have to disable YouTube Player). Now you can select the newly-added PiP button on an iPhone, and the video will pop out from the page. You can change tabs or navigate to different apps, and the video will keep running in the PIP.

I have PiP enabled in general settings, and as for watching on Safari, it does have the option to watch it on the app, but I dont opt for that as PiP doesnt work w that app, and as, mentioned it works for a split second and then it goes back, or it actually stops.
Settings > Picture in Picture > Start PiP Automatically > Enable
I am having the same problem after the update and, no, it is not just the setting. PIP is on.

Yeah and Ive tried the standard “troubleshooting tips” like restarting the phone. I think it might be a bug, no?
Mine works on Netflix tho. So its just safari videos :(
