Watch Series 5 battery still poor after latest update

I have a series 5 watch and since WatchOS 10, the battery has been awful. It won't even last 12 hours.

Now with the latest update 10.1.1 the battery drain issues I thought were going to be corrected. I see no difference after this update.

The battery is so poor now, I find the watch largely useless. I don't understand, what changed in the software to cause such a drastic drain on the battery? Is there apps with background refresh constantly running that wasn't before?

These are things I found helpful:

turn off all the notifications except the ones you really want to see on your WATCH. Personally I don't need my phone, ipad and watch notifying me. The only ones I like have to do with my activity (eg I'm on the treadmill and need to see my heart rate, or something critical when I know my phone might not be with me). I've found the default if you take set up as you first see it, ALL the notifications are ALL on, and this is a huge power drain!

delete any apps, text, alerts on your watch you never use

Check your locations and that they aren't "always on". I like "share only when using" the app. Always on is a big battery hog.

make sure you turn off all the apps - not just close the screen, but close the app entirely. They can run in the background and this can really drain a battery. This goes for music too.

I know they harp on this, but its really true: make sure your watch ios and all the apps on your phone and watch are all the latest/greatest
