Just in case:

Let's say they were backed up. Perform the following to see if you can recover them...

Troubleshooting Lost Photos:

Loss of data is something you would have agreed to upon opening an Apple Account. So, if the following does not work, then they are gone. That's just the way it is :(

Four Tactics to Try:

A. Start here: If you're Missing Photos or Videos in the Photos app - Apple Support

B. Check iCloud Directly:

See if they reside in iCloud Photos. Log in here: https://www.icloud.com/photos

C. Use a Time Machine Backup:

Did you backup your Mac, recently? If so, then restore your Mac from that. You'd backup you Mac prior to doing so, and then restore your data from the backup you just created, through use of Migration Assistant.

D. Where Else to Check:

  • PC
  • PDA
  • eMail
  • Mac Device
  • Cloud Storage
  • Android Phone
  • USB Flash Drive
  • External Hard drive
  • Secure Digital Card
  • Compact Flash Card

Troubleshooting a Locked iPhone:

Hold it Right There!

Being Locked Out...

Enter the passcode incorrectly too many times, and you'd likely be locked out for good. So, hold it right there, and refer to this link: If you Forgot the Passcode on your iPhone, or your iPhone is Disabled - Apple Support. It would be the one you've always entered. If you do not know it, then look for it in a location you may have stored it in.

No Success?

Contact Apple support:

If you cannot get the above link to work, then contact Apple Support.

Apple Contact Info:

  • Contact Us - Choose Locations
  • Proceed from there, as necessary
  • Why the Wait: Phone calls are taking a bit to go through at the moment, due to lots of calls. With the Coronavirus Pandemic, many are at home at the moment, with much time on their hands to contact Apple. So, just stay on the line, and you will get through

The phone will need to be reset/erased and then set up again with a new passcode. Write that new passcode down and keep it in a safe place in your desk or cabinet.

The reset action will erase all of the data on the phone. Unfortunately, there is no way to avoid this.

If you have installed iOS 17 on the phone, see this document:

If you see an iPhone or iPad unavailable message or Security Lockout screen - Apple Support

If you have not installed iOS 17 on the phone, use this document:

If you forgot your iPhone passcode - Apple Support

Once the phone is set up again, please set up automatic daily backups to iCloud so that you can avoid the next disaster.
