AppleCare and Monitors:

If this were new, and you just got it in the mail, then you’d just return it, as it may be a factory defect. But, as for hardware damage, there is a fee, which starts at $99. These are just user-to-user forums. No one here has any say in returns or refunds. So, go through Apple.

Well, you can always ask on these forums.

My Opinion: Perhaps. Only Apple has the ultimate say in what is covered. These are just user-to-user forums. No one here has any say in Apple's decisions. Maybe if it came this way out of the box, you'd have a susceptible case.

Of course I've already done this. Most of my post was removed by mod. And a second post explaining that was deleted. This one likely will be too. I just think it's important for users to know about this common occurrence.

Your portable computer could be subject to Muti-G forces just by being moved about in a completely ordinary way. Even if not moved at all ever, Apple's warranty covers DEFECTS is parts and workmanship.

Your Mac survived being shipped from China, half way around the world to you. If it did not have a broken screen glass when you received it, it does not have defective parts or workmanship.

Glass that got broken, regardless of HOW it got broken, has never been covered by the standard warranty.

if you wanted coverage for screen glass, you has to buy the additional cost AppleCare PLUS Extended Coverage package, only available for the first 60 days of ownership and MAY be subject to inspection. [also subject to US$99 co-payment].

Not buying extended coverage means you agreed, wittingly or unwittingly, to pay for any needed additional repairs yourself.
