How do we change the default settings of End Call?

I just tried to use the chat function to get an answer, but the advisor didn't stick around to see if the proposed "solution" was any good, but I had gotten the feeling they weren't paying much attention to this question:

How can I change the default settings of my AirPods (3rd generation, A2564)? I want my AirPods to End Call with a single press, instead of the default "Press Twice." Each time my AirPods reconnect, the settings revert back to Mute & Unmute: Press Once and End Call: Press Twice. It's annoying to try to end a call and the call is just muted.

How do I change the default that, no matter what, the AirPods' settings remain as End Call: Press Once? The advisor provided an article (Pause, skip, and adjust volume with your AirPods and AirPods Pro - Apple Support )that I've read through before and I don't see anything about changing default settings, just the regular settings. I've tried unpairing and re-pairing my AirPods, hoping that will work, but it hasn't.

Any ideas on how to permanently change the default settings of these AirPods?
