Apple Gift card

I bought an Apple Gift Card recently. Went to download it to my device, and got "Code entered is not Valid". Had this happen once before, but figured it was the store that did it wrong. Have bought other Apple Gift Cards that worked great. Wouldn't be a problem, but this one is for $50.00. Im hesitant to buy any more. Any suggestions on this card will be appreciated.
