I tried the command R.

A world showed uo asking for wifi then password for my computer and nothing happens just keeps asking for password

Why isn't the wifi password being accepted before it begins the diagnostics? I'm attempting to run diagnostics on a 2017 Macbook Pro with Intel chip (obviously). I'm holding D as the system starts, and it takes me to a screen asking me to connect to a network. I select my network and enter the password, but it is rejecting the password and not connecting to the network, and won't let me continue to the diagnostics. I know the password is correct as I'm typing this on the same network.

Are you using a wired or wireless KB & Mouse?

You generally need a Wired USB Keyboard to get past this.
