After installing ios17 my AirPod Max will lose charge overnight even while in the Apple case. Fully charged 100% to 1%. My firmware is latest available.

I have noticed that since the install of ios17, battery drain happens overnight even when in the Apple case.

I have tried the factory reset, and firmware is most recent available

Hey Mbrsyr, what ever happened with your issue? Did Apple ever fix them for you? I'm asking because I'm afraid that I've just entered the same repair vortex...

My Airpods Max, purchased in December, just began doing the same thing, lasting only 3 hours (or less) in playback and battery draining to 1% when left in the case overnight. They literally drained by 5% in 20-30 minutes as I sat in the Apple Store waiting to sign the Repair Authorization form. I feel like I actually signed a Do Not Resuscitate form!!

It's absolutely shameful that Apple refuses to address this issue that has existed since 2019.

Update on this: I’ve reset my phone, my watch and my headphones.

I also disabled all “smart” settings about head detection, auto connect, noise cancellation etc.

The drain is still there. Nothing changed.

One weird thing that I found was if I put my headphones in their case for 8 hours, or for 60 hours, when I take them out, they have 1%. That’s weird.

I thought maybe the battery indication is wrong, but they do die after 2 minutes if I use them.

Hope this is helpful.

Same. Had two chat sessions with Apple Support (didn't help), went to Genius Bar all they could do was ship them out. Apple Support had them all of 3 hours and said they couldn't duplicate issue. I think they thought it wasn't charging. After repeatly telling them it charges, it just drains extremely fast. It isn't updating firmware though for me. I am only on 5E135. The iOS update seems to make sense to me based on the timing of the issue of the battery drain. I am using an iPhone 13 Plus with iOS 17.1.1. I also purchased a new watch and iPad, but perhaps that is coincidental timing? Waiting on a box to ship them back to Apple again. I am not sure if the battery is really drained or is it showing the incorrect %. Will update as I know more. This time I am sending the case too.
