What is the recommended format for logos in mail signatures?

When using my mail signature, the logo I added is blurry when set to small.

I have viewed other forums and the only thing that seems to fix this is to use a screen shot of my logo with this placed in the signature of the mail.

I have tried, higher res jpegs and png but the same issue occurs when the small size of the image is selected.

If I leave it on actual or large then the logo is ridiculously large in comparison to the text in my signature.

For the moment I will use the screen shot but you should be able to use other formats which are a good resolution that remains small to sit with the text proportionally.

Any feed back would be appreciated for all having this issue.

Cheers

I'd been having this same problem. Taking a screenshot of the logo in Illustrator, scaled to the size I wanted, worked perfectly. This had been plaguing me for years. I'd been trying to export out a version of the logo, as a .png, at the size I wanted, and it always showed up blurry in Mail. But, this solves the problem. It doesn't makes sense why it has to be done this way, but the problem is solved nonetheless.

I had the same issue and the screenshot really works for keeping the picture not blurry. However after this I have a new problem. The signature looks perfect in the settings and when I start to write an email, but the second I add the reciever of the email in the "To:" the signature doubles in size. Have tried resizing but there goes the quality and it's blurry again.

What did you do to make the screenshot work size wise?

Hi Elin,

Yes I had the same problem but at the time a larger logo of the screenshot was better than a blurry logo.

I personally find mail to be sporadic as I found what you see isn't what you always get as the size was fine when I finally sorted it out.

I did resized the original screen shot in photoshop. eg the screenshot resolution was 144 ppi and the image size was 11.29 x 2.68cm.

I reduced the image size to 8 x 1.9cm. This made the logo smaller in area size (but keep the original resolution) which worked. I restarted mail after adding the updated logo so I could select it.

Also just test it.

I did notice then I could not select image size from the dropdown under selecting signatures so it may be because it has been re-formated from the original state, but I'd be guessing and I don't loose sleep over it:)

PS if you don't have photoshop just use the preview to resize it.

Hope this helps....
