HomePod mini Won't play Apple Music Playlists

When requesting Siri play a new playlist with iOS 17.1, Siri on our HomePods says "Sorry Looks like Apple Music can't play that".

Have restarted HomePods and devices including router.

Have Logged out/In of iCloud on HomePods.

Have reset HomePods with Mac downloading new software.

Have not seen a working solution to this issue that seems pop up every couple months.? Besides call Apple Support.

Is there anything we can do for this issue at this time?

Mac mini, macOS 10.12

I've still got a support case open on this exact issue and all they've said is "there is no fix yet". I'm getting really cranky about it now and that's being polite.

Shaz,

I just downloaded the newest HomePod update 17.1.1 (21K82) after updating my iPhone to iOS 17.1.1. These updates alone did NOT fix the HomePod mini issue.

But, after the latest updates I decided to run through the major HomePod reset steps again, and after the following the steps below our HomePod Mini is working with Apple Music again.

Here's what we did.

Update iPhone and HomePod mini to 17.1.1
Log HomePod mini out of Apple Music
Restart HomePod Mini by unplugging it from power for 30 seconds.
Remove HomePod mini from Apple account - under iOS Settings, Apple ID account listed devices.
Restore HomePod mini to factory defaults. Connect to Mac vis USB or "Unplug Mini and hold finger on top method", both should work. Important step here is to initiate reinstall HomePod Mini OS.
Re-activate and re-setup HomePod mini as you would when new, with iPhone.
Make sure HomePod appears in the Home App and is logged in to your apple account in the Home App settings.
Verify your wifi connection by asking Siri for the weather..
Ask Siri to play one of your Apple Music playlists. Fingers crossed.

This worked for us. I hope it works for you.

THANK YOU SO MUCH. That worked!! I'm so happy! I had of course unplugged/restarted/reset/removed my 4 HomePods and readded them. What I never did though was Restore the HomePods. So I plugged one of them into my Windows PC, opened iTunes and restored it through there, then added the device again. And it worked. Now to do the other 3. Thank you Bob :-)
