I purchased the Apple Watch Ultra to the first week of October just downloaded the new 17 point one update hoping that it would solve the dimming issue when you head into a dark area so dim it’s so hard to read text messages or even the time. Hope Apple is aware of this and is coming out with an update that will solve the problem, or give us the option to make the Watch brighter at night
The latest update to WatchOS 10.4 adds Settings/Accessibility/Minimum Brightness.
Turn this ON and the watch will no longer dim in dark areas.

Can’t tell you how many times I called they have no fix but are aware of the issue
