Safari cannot access Microphone and Camera

Hi,

Websites like Skype, Zoom, Teams, Meet, etc cannot access Microphone and Camera although permission has been granted.

Refer to the below image of Safari settings page where I provided Microphone permission to Skype

But if I see Mac'c Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone - there is no Safari application listed in it

as a result the person at the other end can just hear some kind of beep sound.

Note: Chrome browser works fine.

Hi Jaym_8,

Please refer below findings

While using Skype:

Camera and Microphones are allowed

But still not showing visuals

In the search bar, it is showing this website has access to camera

While using Google Meet:

Camera visuals do not appear

In the search bar it is showing this website has access to camera and microphone

Note:

Control Center not showing any privacy indicators (Orange / Green)

The person at the other end cannot hear anything

All these websites work fine in Chrome

Hello sam_hps,

That is correct, there wouldn't be an option for Safari in the Privacy & Security settings since it's not a 3rd party application.

If a website in Safari needs to access the microphone, it should be giving you a pop-up notification right in Safari to allow it. If you've accidentally declined access, you can adjust the permission by opening Safari, selecting Safari up in the menu bar then choose Settings. Under the Safari Settings go to the Websites tab > Microphone on the sidebar, then change the access for whichever website it is. If you want to always allow mic access in Safari, change the setting under "When visiting websites" at the bottom right of the window to Allow.

Change Websites settings in Safari on Mac

If you have the mic set to allow on a website but it's not working, then you'll want to add more specific detail your post about what is happening when you try to use it. For example, when you're selecting a mic on the website to use as the input, is the computers mic not coming up as an available option? Is it continually asking you to allow permission even though you already have? Etc.

Cheers!
