I use to be able to send and group message and the recipients would receive the message individually because I was able to turn group messaging off. Now they receive is as a group and everyone sees everyone else’s responses.

Why a menu option is removed or changed would only be known by Apple's software engineers. If there was an option that was removed and you'd like to see it brought back, you can submit that suggestion to Apple through there feedback site: Product Feedback

Jaym_8~ I have an iPhone SE, my husband an iphone X. The update caused the removal of group messaging toggle in my phone, but not in his. He has done all the updates and continues to have the group message toggle. I now do not think that it was an intentional removal, I think it is a glitch that randomly affects. Perhaps with the next update, things will smooth out. It is not a feature that they would knowingly remove. It makes no sense that they would.
Well, I reported it to Apple. However, since it seems that it didn’t occur in all phones, perhaps it was a glitch. We’ll see. Thank you.
