Safari half the time will not stay on web page on my iMac, it go’s to text only page

Safari some of the time will not stay on web page on my iMac, it go’s to the page then jumps to the text only of that page. I have a new iPad Pro, that I’m just learning to use, it is synced with my iMac and now safari on the iPad is doing the same thing. I can't get anything dune. I'm using Firefox for now on my imac! What is wrong and how do I fix it?

Thank you! Michael

michaellw,

Based on the description it sounds like Safari may have the setting enabled for using the Reader feature automatically. Try reviewing the following setting to see if that is enabled, and if so you may go ahead and turn it off there if desired:

Automatically use Reader for a website
1. On a supported website, tap the Page Settings button, then tap Website Settings.
2. Turn on Use Reader Automatically.
Note: To automatically use Reader for all websites that support it, go to Settings  > Safari > Reader.

Thank you Neil22R; I did update my imac OS and Safari and turned off the exstentions. No change! When I got my ipad pro a few weeks ago Safari was working fine on both, about a week ago the problem started on the imac and also on the ipad. it must-be a erupted file shard by both. I don't know anything about app files.

I was go to attach a PDF of what I'm getting. But I don't know how to do it!

Thank you Michael
