USB superdrive compatible with macbook air M2?

I purchased a USB superdrive for a macbook air M2... the Macbook Air doesn't recognize the external drive

how is the superdrive connected to the Mac? it will not work if connected through a dock or hub. it needs to be connected directly to the Mac. and since your MBA only has TB3 / USB-C ports, you need to use an USB-C to USB Adapter to connect it directly to the Mac.

Did you put a disk in it? You typically won't see anything if there's nothing in the Superdrive.
