Do you mean AirPod headphone or earbuds?
Do you mean HomePod speakers?
Do you mean third party AirPlay-enabled speakers?
All versions iOS should work fine with any of the above.
Do you have trouble installing iOS 16.7.1? Please elaborate.
Did you consider iOS 17.x for the latest version?
