I'm having the same issue, the inability to download and/or start Youtube TV on a Apple TV. I've tried all the recommendations listed to no avail.

One Apple TV in another room, same network, etc., works fine. Other streaming services (ESPN, Netflix, etc.) work fine.

It's almost as if the Apple TV is blocking Youtube TV.

Thanks for reaching out ericarm,

It sounds like your Apple TV is not connecting to your network. We can help.

A good place to start is by following these steps If your Apple TV can't connect to Wi-Fi.

If you still run into difficulty after following those steps, you can connect with Apple directly using either Get Support or if you're in a region without direct support options, you can also Contact Apple for support and service.

Hope that helps.

Take care.

Hi - the device connects to my network with no problems. Over Wi-Fi I had a strong signal, speed test gave me good ping, download (57mbps) and upload speeds (12mbps). Ethernet connection was good, too. Similar speed test results. All other streaming apps streamed no problem regardless of Wi-Fi vs Ethernet. On the internet, there are numerous reports of this problem, but no info on a fix.

What’s the next thing to try?

Hey ericarm,

Thanks for clarifying the issue. We understand that all other streaming apps are working as expected, except the YouTube app showing it cannot connect to the internet. If you haven't already, complete the following to see if they help resolve the issue:

  1. Restart your Apple TV and network (modem and Wi-Fi router) to ensure fresh connections. If you're not sure how to restart your network, you'll want to reach out to your internet service provider for the steps. Here's a guide on restarting your Apple TV: Restart Apple TV - Apple Support
  2. Ensure your Apple TV software is updated. Updates help by installing bug fixes and include security updates too: Update Apple TV software - Apple Support
  3. Delete and reinstall the app for a fresh copy of the software. Be sure to delete the app fully, do not offload it: Customize the Apple TV Home Screen - Apple Support
  4. Check for possible restrictions: Restrict access to content on Apple TV - Apple Support

If the above steps do not resolve the issue, you'll want to reach out to YouTube Support to look into this with you more. Here's a link to their support, just in case: YouTube Help

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

Take care!

Thanks,

Unfortunately I have already tried all of those remedies including unplugging from a/c and cold booting everything, to no avail. It’s bizarre, because the AppleTV in another room in the house has no problem at all running YouTube. Is there a way to get older versions of the YouTube app from the App Store? Are any AppleTV engineers working with YouTube on issues like this? Would allowing my AppleTV to load beta versions of the TVOS possibly help?Doesn’t Apple test the app before allowing it to be distributed? Is there any feature in AirPlay I could exploit, e.g. to mirror my other (working) AppleTV on the defective one?
