Cursor frozen upper left corner iMac
older iMac (2012) running with updates well until today. now, can't move cursor from upper left. batteries fine om keyboard and mouse.

Do you have a wired mouse to use? Sounds like your mouse became unpaired. The general consensus on the board is to have a wired mouse around for emergencies like this.
