Possible to pair Gen 1 Apple Remote with 2018 MacBook Pro?

Hi everyone.

I'm wondering if it's possible to pair a Gen 1 Apple Remote (white one, with white buttons) with a 2018 MacBook Pro?

I've tried all the tips in other posts on here, but nothing worked.

Thanks.

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 13.5

No. The last Macbook Pros that had an infrared receiver were the non-Retina Mid-2012 models. No receiver means even newer Apple remotes cannot work.

There may be third-party remote control systems that would use a dongle in one of the USB ports. If you go that way you MUST make certain the device is Mac-compatible, and accept that you will likely lose access to one USB port.
