Turn off autofill pop ups in Notes app

I just upgraded to IOS 17 on my iPhone X. There’s a new feature that suggests words as I’m typing…NOT the word suggestions that commonly appear right above the keyboard, but word suggestions that appear right by the text as you’re typing it. It’s very distracting when typing.

I’ve gone in to the keyboard settings and turned off predictive text…but that only turns off the former (words above keyboard), not the latter (words in writing prompt next to typed text).

In fact, it’s doing it right now as I type, which may be a website thing, but it’s happening in my “Notes” app as well.

Very distracting.

This annoying auto fill popup also appears in the Files app.

Hi Justwonderingg,

We'll need to get a bit more information to provide the best support. Just to confirm, when you turn on Predictive text in Settings > General > Keyboards, do you still see the suggested text where your cursor is, or do you only see it when Predictive text is turned off?

In the meantime, you may find the information in this resource useful: How to use Auto-Correction and predictive text on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Regards.

Thanks. I just checked, and the in-line suggestions appear whether it’s on or off…but only in the Notes app.

Interestingly, when I type into this text box as I’m doing this moment, when predictive text is on it does not show the inline suggestions.

So there appears to be difference there.

Thanks, the article was helpful for another reason, but not this!
