anyone else having issues to see canon cr3 files on iPhone?

have a canon r7 using cannon import application from appstore downloads the photos, jpg are being display on the photos app just fine, cr3 files show a gray box for them, if i try to edit it shows "error loading picture" and doesnt give me any option to edit it but previews the image, same thing happens if you see the gray box and hit the infromation it loads but as soon as you exit it it wont display it again.

Tried sending file from sd card and camera to the Macbook and to the iphone same thing happens it justs displays a gray box, cr2 files from an old canon 90d works just fine just cr3 files being affected

Hello ivanfromguadalajara,

While you may need to reach out to Canon regarding their format(CR3) and to check compatibility with your iPhone, we'd like to rule out some possible causes first:

  1. The latest version for iPhone models is iOS 17.0.3. If you have a compatible model, make sure you are running that under Settings > General > About.
  2. Sometimes unexpected behavior can be resolved with a restart as it refreshes the software and corrects minor issues: Restart your iPhone - Apple Support
  3. Have you checked to see if the Cannon import app is updated in the App Store?

Cheers!

Hello, man.

I though that I’m the only one having this issue regarding my old Iphone 8

and asked in Canon’s USA community forum with no answer given. Now I own Iphone SE 3rd Gen which has latest revision of iOS from few days ago and still can’t see the previews of my CR3 images out of my Canon R10

I’ve face no issue using my EOS 2000D with CR2 files.

I’ve also found that importing the images to Lightroom or any Adobe software I can see&view them without a problem even after exporting. That‘s my “solution” for now.

Hello ivanfromguadalajara,

Apple releases iOS beta software before the software is publicly available to ensure app developers have time to update theirs to be compatible. If the app isn't working as expected, and you've completed the steps above, working with the app developer for a resolution would be the next step. How to contact an app developer - Apple Support

Thanks.

the issue seems to be iOS 17 and above we use a device with still on 16 with no issues, we even restored to factory a device still remaining the issue app is on the latest update, iOS as well only problem is with cr3 files cr2 are able to be seen according to iOS 17 fact sheet cr3 suppose to be compatible. Also verified with canon support yet no response from them but on canon forums everyone is having same issues
