Why can’t I use my flashlight ?

The icon is on not lit up on my screen, it’s dark and when I click it nothing happens

If none of these options work to enable it:

Turn the flashlight on or off on your iPhone or iPad Pro - Apple Support

You may need to have your device examined at your local Apple Store:
