Upgraded Mac Pro to Ventura 13.5.1 and tried to add music to an iPhone SE (1st Generation). I see the iPhone in the sidebar of Music but the main part of the window says "Loading" and just spins and spins and spins. Any insight as to why it will not connect?
Not necessarily.
Push comes to shove, you can create a separate partition that is a downgrade, as described here:
How do I downgrade my Mac OS X operating … - Apple Community
While you can't downgrade iOS, you can have multiple OS versions of Mac OS on Macs.
If this does not give you access to your 1st generation phone, you may want to turn off the iCloud sync on the phone and see if that makes a difference. It may not let you connect to the computer directly without that sync turned off.
Is the iPhone upgraded to iOS 15.7.9? That may be needed to interact with the Mac.
Make sure you have a cable that shows no sign of damage.
If you have a case, remove the case, as it may cause the cable to not fully connect because of being too close to the charging port.
Thanks for the tip. I upgraded to 15.7.9 but had the same result. Phone shows up in the sidebar and now it says, "the selected device cannot be found".
Is there more than one Phone connected?
Is the phone still in pin lock? You may need to unlock it, and approve your computer's connection.
Strange message. "This iPhone is open in another window". What the heck does that mean?
Look at all your open Finder windows in the Window menu. Perhaps there is an activity such as an update or backup happening to it elsewhere.
I think I'm screwed. I tried a 2nd gen. SE and it recognized the device immediately.
