Hi,

Maybe. You do not say which exact Mac model and year, nor the Mac operating system version installed.

Let us assume that it is a circa 2008 Mac. It could then be running anything between approx. Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard and OS X 10.11 El Capitan (after an upgrade).

With a version higher than Mac OS X 10.7 Lion, it may be possible to use an AirPrint-supported printer model without additional printer drivers, provided that the printer is connected to the same network (Wi-Fi router, wired or wireless connection) as the Mac.

An HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 is listed in About AirPrint - Apple Support.
