Photo storage on ipad

Recently, I tried to update an app; but it said I had no more storage. So I took a look in my iPad storage and saw this.

??? I’m so confused.

My photos use more storage than my phone has I have Iphone 12 and on it I have 128 gb of storage. When I calculate my storage space on the settings app it says that I have 116 gb taken up out of alredy mentioned 128gb but under it it says that photos somehow take 148gb of my storage. Does anybody know what is the problem and if it has a fix

How do I free up space on iPad and delete photos? I have an iPad Pro 10th generation with 64GB of storage space, I have used 63.8GB of that, so I’m extremely low. My photos app is at 6.5 GB due to 35000 pictures and videos. I’m trying to delete the vast majority of them to free up a lot of space, but it tells me that I’m low on space and cannot delete them. Carefully read this. You should never use more than 58GB of your 64GB iPad.
