2 step authentication on older iphones

I have an old iphone that I have wiped to use simply as a media player...basically as an iPod.

As I am attempting to restore from an iCloud back up the following occurs.

  1. I enter my Apple ID email and password.
  2. I get the message that additional authentication is required.
  3. I receive the 2 step authentication password sent to my other device
  4. But, the older iPhone I am attempting to restore does not give a field to enter the code. It just returns to the email / password page.

Is there a way to bypass the 2 Step Authentication for older devices that came out before 2-Step Authentication was a thing?

Put it just after the password. For example, if your password is abc and the code 123456, put abc123456 in the password field.

Codes are time-limited. If yours has expired, request a new one.
