Find My friends location not availbe on iPhone, but it is on Macbook Pro

Hello, I recently tried adding a friend to my Find My, and for some reason, his location was not coming up for me. It only shows his last location from when he shared it (i.e. 7 hours ago). The weird part is that on my Macbook Pro, I can see his live location, not from the time it was shared.

What would be causing this issue, and is there a fix for it?

Hey david_detav,

If you can see their live location on your MacBook Pro but not your iPhone, there may be something different about your iPhone connection that is preventing Find My from updating. Find My uses Location Services, which in turn relies on several components on your iPhone to register locations and use the map. We recommend that you restart your iPhone to ensure it has a fresh connection to all components and see if your friend's location updates.

If you have any differences in your connection on your iPhone, like a VPN or profile that could impact the connection, you may consider further isolating by disabling the VPN.

Kindest Regards.

Hi Ali_E1,

thank you for your response and suggestion. I had tried restarting the phone before but that did not work. Even updating the phone to 17.0.3 did nothing to help. Interestingly, it did start working when I updated my iPad to 17.0.3. I am curious to know how the correlation between these devices caused that. But for now I’m happy it’s working again!
