Apple Music unwanted control panel on iPad

Starting just recently (iPadOS 17 ??), an intrusive media "control panel" now appears at the bottom of the screen. It seems to decide for itself what I should listen to next.

I've found no way to remove it. Any suggestions?

Hey there Lucky13,

We'd like to help by learning more about what's happening, along with ruling out some basics:

  1. Is this only showing when playing music in the Apple Music app, and what happens when you tap on it? The more details you provide, the better we'll understand what's happening.
  2. Sometimes unexpected behavior can be resolved with a restart: Restart your iPad
  3. You mentioned this began to show at the bottom of your screen after installing iPadOS 17, but the latest version is iPadOS 17.0.3. You can verify this within Settings > General > About. In case you needed it, this link shows how to first back up, then update: Update your iPhone or iPad

Cheers!

The OS is up to date. This seems to be a feature, not a bug. It appears when the app is launched, even before anything plays. It caught me off-guard.

What bothers me is that this "feature" automatically displays what was playing when the app was last used - when listening to a playlist. Worse yet, when listening to a station - it displays what "would" have played next had I not quit the app.

I can do without these over-designed and "helpful" software features. Job security for programmers?

Thanks for the response.
