Siri will not read messages unless I unlock the phone. (Iphone 13 IOS 16) I used to be able to have siri read messages when the phone was locked. She stopped some time ago. I have tried several "fixes" I found here and googling but none seem to fix it. Thanks.

Siri makes me unlock my iPhone before sending a text message using voice Out of absolutely nowhere yesterday, Siri started telling me to unlock my iPhone before I could dictate a text message. I have no idea why this is suddenly required and I have googled it and looked on the message boards and I find no solution. This makes using air buds and an iPhone in freezing cold weather totally useless… It was extremely efficient to be able to reply to or send a text message using my voice and now I'm unable to do it without getting my phone out of my pocket taking off my gloves and unlocking the phone. It won't even allow me to reply to a message. Again it requires me to unlock my iPhone. I have been dictating text messages this way for years and out of nowhere this has changed. I'm very tired of all these love with the iOS updates. Is anybody else having this problem and have you figured out how to resolve it.

IOS 16 Siri won’t read messages without phone unlock? Prior to iOS 16, Siri could be configured to read text messages without requiring phone to be unlocked. is this no longer possible? I can no longer find the menu pass to keep this feature, and there is no recent article or tutorial that clarifies it.

Siri won’t read messages, or use any app with private data, with any model iPhone if the phone is locked. It’s a security feature, so someone who picks up your phone other than you can’t read your messages.
