Can’t get any shortcuts to appear in Apple Watch

I can’t get any shortcuts to appear when I add the Shortcuts complication on my Apple Watch other than the compass “start compass backtrack”, “Stop Compass Backtrack” and “Set Compass Waypoint”

Absolutely nothing else appears even though I have added them in the “Apple Watch” list in the Shortcuts app. I even only used the default suggestions based on the app (didn’t create my own, just the standard) and nothing appears in the watch. Even “Record a new voice memo” which is in that list doesn’t appear) and the rare few pages online I can find talking about this issue all list options in menus that do not actually exist (likely they went by memory rather than looking up the precise menu name)

How do I get them to appear?

That does not resolve it for me. When I do that, “Show on Apple Watch” is already clicked green. Yet, Apple Watch only shows compass app shortcuts. Frustrating!

hi,

so I had been having the same issue since a while. In fact, funnily, on the same day in the morning, when I first made a watch face complication as shortcuts, the entire list appeared. Later that day, when I went to change it, it disappeared. Only Shortcuts app showed, and no list of my shortcuts.

After searching a lot on the web, came across this link - Shortcuts don't appear on Apple Watch (SO… - Apple Community and the steps worked for me-

iPhone: Settings, iCloud, in Apps Using iCloud expand and find Shortcuts, disable it and enable it back after a few seconds.

Looks like it's an iCloud sync issue with shortcuts. The above fixed it for now. Along with this, one can also try restarting the watch, the phone, and / or unpairing and re-pairing the watch. But re-syncing iCloud should do the trick.

Hope this helps!

P. S. I can see all my shortcuts now, but why is each shortcut from the complication of a watch face asking me to tap 'Run' and not running directly when I tap on it? The 'Show when Run' option is disabled in iPhone shortcuts.

I have a Series 8 and an iPhone 14 with all software updates and this hint does not work for me. Apple has long had problems with iCloud syncing; it's surprising that there isn't a "sync all apps and devices" by this point.

As far as your "P.S." — in various readings about the shortcut not appearing, one or two folks mentioned needing to add an Automation step to get rid of the "run" confirmation. Might that solve the problem?

Hey, did you disable and re-enable sync for Siri as well along with Shortcuts? I did for both. Although, the bug is not solved 100%. While earlier I was getting no shortcut list at all, now I am getting most of them. But a few shortcuts that have the exact same settings as others, aren't showing up. For instance, I have a wake Apple TV shortcut and a sleep Apple TV (which I have set with Siri commands as Turn On / Off My TV. Now in my watch complications, only Turn Off shortcut is showing in the list, while the Turn On is still not visible. So that part is still a bit annoying. The bug surely seems to be in the syncing between devices. When I am make changes on macbook shortcuts app, they don't reflect most of the times on iPhone or on watch. Sometimes when I delete from one, they are still there on the other. Then when I open any duplicate shortcuts on iPhone later, it shows the 2-3 conflicts and asks to pick one from the list, or pick multiple. But overall, yes the sync seems to have a bug.

Hmm automation to get rid of the tap to run obstacle for shortcut complication, will have to look into that. Partially, I am actually fine with it and I think they have also intentionally put that to prevent accidental running of the shortcut straight from the watch face. So I guess I might not waste time on solving that bug. It took a couple of days to accidentally fix the shorcuts list bug!

Thanks for posting in the Apple Support Communities Howmander,

The following steps should help you add additional shortcuts and set them as complications:

Add a shortcut complication
1. Touch and hold the watch face, then tap Edit.
2. Swipe left to the Complications screen, then tap a complication.
3. Scroll to Shortcuts, then choose a shortcut.
Add more shortcuts to Apple Watch
1. Open the Shortcuts app on your iPhone.
2. Tap the More button in the top-right corner of a shortcut.
3. Tap the Info button on the shortcut screen, then turn on Show on Apple Watch.

Use shortcuts on Apple Watch

We hope this helps!
